چکیده
Hydrophilic and negatively charged natural cartilage surface is covered by phospholipids bilayers. These have been demonstrated to exert highly desirable characteristics on the articular such as efficient lubrication, load processing, semipermeability for nutrient transport. We examined a bovine (BC) using atomic force microscope. The study was performed samples with healthy surfaces completely depleted phospholipids. artificially degraded (lipid depleted) were resurfaced different species combinations of synthetic bilayer found in human joints. Our results that it possible recreate potentially viable layer degenerated cartilage. However, further studies will be required advance resurfacing idea developed this paper potential treatment osteoarthritis other related orthopedic joint conditions.

Observation of living cells using the atomic force microscope.
We used an atomic force microscope (AFM) to image samples immersed in a fluid in order to study the dynamic behavior of the membranes of living cells. AFM images of cultured cells immersed in a buffer were obtained without any preliminary preparation. We observed surface changes and displacements which suggest that the cells were still alive during the measurements. Some membrane details imaged...
متن کاملForce Spectroscopy with the Atomic Force Microscope
Introduction and Review Atomic Force Microscope (AFM) Spectroscopy is an AFM based technique to measure, and sometimes control the polarity and strength of the interaction between the AFM tip and the sample. Although the tip-sample interaction may be studied in terms of the energy, the quantity that is measured first is always the tip-sample force, and thus the nomenclature: force spectroscopy....
متن کاملDesign of Fractional Order Sliding Mode Controller for Chaos Suppression of Atomic Force Microscope System
A novel nonlinear fractional order sliding mode controller is proposed to control the chaotic atomic force microscope system in presence of uncertainties and disturbances. In the design of the suggested fractional order controller, conformable fractional order derivative is applied. The stability of the scheme is proved by means of the Lyapunov theory based on conformable fractional order deriv...
متن کاملSpatially resolved force spectroscopy of biological surfaces using the atomic force microscope.
The spatial distribution of intermolecular forces governs macromolecular interactions. The atomic force microscope, a relatively new tool for investigating interaction forces between nanometer-scale objects, can be used to produce spatially resolved maps of the surface or material properties of a sample; these include charge density, adhesion and stiffness, as well as the force required to brea...
متن کاملSize-dependent on vibration and flexural sensitivity of atomic force microscope
In this paper, the free vibration behaviors and flexural sensitivity of atomic force microscope cantilevers with small-scale effects are investigated. To study the small-scale effects on natural frequencies and flexural sensitivity, the consistent couple stress theory is applied. In this theory, the couple stress is assumed skew-symmetric. Unlike the classical beam theory, the new model contain...
